possible '96 Sport with 76,000 miles...

Saw it yesterday on the way home. Thinking of trading my 2006 F150 XL in for it. He wants way too much for it (like almost $7000). I haven't really had the chance to look at it yet but it seems clean, not perfect. My truck has 80,000 miles on it and has been reliable. I don't drive it much as I have a work truck. My almost 15 year old son has helped me greatly with getting the '92 up to snuff. She still has a little way to go but getting there. I have a feeling the yougun will want one soon. What say you?

Sorry, just realized this was an old post .....

not that old it's still from this month.

you're thinking of buying your 16 year old new driver a $7000 car? damn you're an awesome dad. but kids wreck cars. I wouldnt buy my kid a mint vehicle. second, the low miles can actually be bad. if it has ever sat in one spot for too long it's going to have rotting parts. it's nice, but no where near $7000 nice

Yeah I would have to agree I passed up a 98 with 86,000 miles the owner wanted to much of a premium for the low mileage.

I picked up my '92 with only 71k on the clock. Had a new skyjacker lift, locker, rims and tires. Cost me 5000 but was immaculate except for the faded clear coat.

7000 is way too much IMO

xjguy11 10-01-2012 02:21 AM

I wouldnt do any more than 3700. That's about average for that.

Maybe where you live. Around DC, high prices are the norm. Most clean XJs OVER 100k on the clock still fetch more than $3500 in this area. 2000-2001 versions retail for $5000.

Traded my truck for it and got an even swap. And he paid off the truck. Cherokee ended up being around $3000.

It will still be a few years before my youngun' gets behind the wheel. It is my DD right now, but just gets driven once a week as I drive a work truck.

Here it the thread on it. Done a few things to it and so far it is running great. Oh and it has 73,000 miles not 76,000.
