Default Picking up new axles.. Trailer or my Tahoe?

Picking up a complete set of 4:10 axles for my '92 XJ in a few days.. ~620 mile round trip and I really don't want to drag my utility trailer around just for a set of axles if I don't need to.

My travellin' vehicle is a 2003 Tahoe. I *could* cut some plywood and tarp the back. I imagine the salvage yard will have a forklift or something. I can get enough bodies when I get home to help unload.

Any thoughts? Just tryin to save a few bucks.. Already had to take a day off as the place isn't open on Saturdays.

I just hauled a set of axles 100 miles in the back of my truck along with a t-case and lift kit. I could not imagine hauling that crap in the back of a Tahoe....

I say take your utility trailer if you have one.

I hauled a set of stock axles, D30 and C8.25, in the back of my XJ once because I ran across a deal and didn't want to pass it up. Those aren't that big or heavy, 2 guys can carry them.

I hauled my d44 and d30 in the back of my XJ. (Not at same time though but there was enough room to fit.

I had a guy pick up a Dana 30 axle and slipped it into the back of his Subaru, just had some card board to lay under it.

Done. Just used the Tahoe with plywood in the back. Had to bring both dogs and the wife so it was a bit cramped on the way back. Salvage place left everything attached/cut off on both axles. lol. Freaked the dogs out. 700 miles today.. ugh.. I'm gonna go crash.
