Default Parts/Year compatbility?

Anyone have any idea if the engine and the transmission from 2000 XJ are direct bolt ins for a 95? Or whatever other parts are compatible?

I found a cheap XJ with low miles for parts, but it is a 2000 and mine is a 95.

Thanks.

The engine in the 00 has a head that is known to crack,Really not a lot will work they are two different body styles and odb1 vs odb2.

It's really labor intensive. I did similar going with a 94 ODB1 drivetrain into an 89 renix body. Need to swap all electronics and wire harness. You'll have the same compatibility issues. It was worth it for me because renix is just that bad. Look for an older donor. Pre 96.

$600. The seller claims the rust is so bad it is unsafe to drive but the engine and trans are good but, if its not close to a drop in with little mod I dont have the time or the patience right now to do too much.

Pass. If you can find a 93-95 it will be an easier swap. I'm seeing motors in that year range around here for around 350-400 and trans the same or less.

The transmission won't be a direct swap due to wiring difference.
