Took my tire carrier off so I could paint it, just wondering if I should just scuff up the old paint and go over it or go down to bare metal and prime it. The old paint is in pretty good condition, just kinda sun dried. Little to no rust. Any thoughts?

take it down till its smooth, then prime and paint if you want it to last. I'd honestly take a wire wheel to it.

Don't paint it!!!!

Put it in a box and send it to me.

But seriously, if it's decently smooth a 3M scotch pad will get it pretty good then wipe it completely done with thinner then paint.
