Lots of sand paper.

Im no pro but I just did mine last night. I sanded it down really good with 220 GRIT and then cleaned it up really good with some sort of cleaner. "grease lightning", or whatever you got. Did 2 or 3 light coats of primer and then did the paint of choice then I did 2 or 3 light coats of clear

bleh

Yeah they should have original paint. I'm trying to figure out the best way to hit the rust since I don't have a sand blaster. I was wondering if there was maybe some type of soak to help.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'm going to be working on these tonight and tomorrow.

if you've got patience go for it that's gonna be a lot of sanding

I would probably use sandpaper. It seems like the easiest way to do it. Your hands should have no problems scraping the inside and out because there's a good amount of room in between the coils. With a sand blaster, you'll have a hell of a time getting the insides done to your liking.
