Actually i plan on keeping it for a good while, And with the tires i like to go offroading, like i said i dont want the best even tho theyre nice but i dont want crap either. And i sometimes go to the scrap yard alot and since its not asphalt or anything else and is slippery mud i want something thatll grip and not have to constantly use 4wd. And i do get the money it takes time to get but i do get it. Plus 450 for new tires isnt that bad thats why i questioned about these tires because they look fairy aggressive but also are cheap. Im tired of putting crap tires on my jeep and want something decent and thatll last more than 10k miles. And i know my alignment isnt that great but it isnt terrible either thats why i was thinking of these cheap tires till i get my front end rebuilt then put on good tires thatll last a while also thats why i like the bfg all terrains because i had a few people i know that got 100k out of them alone and they have heavy trucks a light jeep they should last a good amount right? plus also i now know iron man and hercules tires now which are coopers so awesome i am considering them now.

I'm calling bs on those tires lasting to 100k. Maybe they had some semblance of tread, but were probably long past being safe. I think they are only rated for like 65k miles? Idk ill check Monday.

yes true tho these were some reviews but a friend has gone there and did have some depth left but as you said most likely unsafe as the rain channels are gone and all that. But also he did travel alot on the highways and not much city driving either so maybe less wear and tear on the tire as well.

I mean, not really. There are tons of tires out there that last a long time and are very cheap. But their performance sucks, their only saving grace is their tread life. Those cheap wrangler radial last forever, but like I said they do not perform well at all.
hell, most all terrains last close to 50k miles or more. Don't be stuck on all the "big brands". Khumo, falken, iron man, MasterCraft and more make a pretty good all terrain at reasonable prices.

i really liked the goodyear armortracs i had. i put 55k on them. they had 6/32 left when i gave them to a friend. the only thing i didn’t like is how wide the actual tread is.

Funny I was reading this thread and my wife called with a flat tire. I have 2 sets of the wrangler radials. One set was on my ZJ before it got totaled and they're now on one of my XJ's. When I got it it already had a set on it but I put the other ones on because they were still like new.
My wife's has starfire sf340's on it now. They were only like $65 each. They lasted about 2 years. The fronts are badly worn because the ball joints were bad, one rear has a slow leak and the other rear just blew out. We were just trying to figure out what to do for tires before the snow comes. Was going to just buy 2 more for the rear and put the rears to the front for the winter.
Now idk what. No shop that only sells tires within 15 miles. If the shop in town doesn't have tires in stock then I will be at least putting two good years on the rear. They were always fine for me. Would like to stick with 225's on my wife's. Not as many options in that size. Might go with firestone destination. If the good years were available in 225 I would probably go with those. By the way I have not much of a budget so I buy whatever I can afford without buying some unknown brand.

so now I'm thinking maybe I'll go with cooper trendsetter. My wife's Jeep sees alot of pavement. Once in a while some fields, sometimes muddy and some unimproved dirt roads. Never had any problems running all season tires. Often it's driven 2-3 hours on the highway so all seasons work great without sacrificing all of the snow and off road abilities.
Those goodyears are only 2 ply sidewall and the treadblocks are rather large without a lot of siping. So wet traction might not be great. I don't recall ever having problems and I definitely never got stuck and did do some light off roading with them. After reading some of the reviews though, they might be a risky purchase. It's possible that the quality has gone down over the last few years on them. There are plenty of choices right around the $100 range though.

I'll wade in here. I think you can only go with what you have experience with. Tires, like oil, seem to be personal preference. I've bought many tires from the junkyard-been happy with them. I've got Goodyear Wranglers (used) and been happy with them. Also three vehicles running Good Year Nordic snow tires (I love these in snow). Had Duellers that were good. Running Firestone FR710 on van currently and Motomaster Total Terrain on Wagoneer (Canadian brand made by Cooper), Cherokee has Wranglers.
Worse brands I had in the past: Pirelli, Michelin (horrible in rain), Continental. I had Generals that wore like iron.

The Walmart Goodyear's feel cheap. Sidewall seems thin.
I would not buy them again. I just replaced 2 of them with these

I had a set of those Goodyear wranglers--and just like martlor said, they are junk. They hydroplaned in the rain, made the ride feel like there were no shocks. Just terrible in every possible situation. Worst purchase ever. If I could give them a negative rating I would. They should be illegal.
I went with the Starfire sf340 like Wayne. They are a real street tread, although they do say M&S on the side. Improved the ride 100%. They handle great in the rain.....but they are not an all terrain.

^^^ I'll keep that in mind. The ones on my XJ (from previous owner) is a fairly near new set. I figure I'll try and run them through the winter. If they feel like complete crap I'll pull them off at that point and go with my planned 31's for my near future lift.
Strange how some tread patterns work great and other just completely suck. I mean the siping design, say on my several sets of BFG AT's over the years to look at the tread design you wouldn't think they'd be worth much in the wet, but they always worked great on and off road for me. And really not that much road noise for a tire that's good in the dirt too. I'm just not convinced of the handling in the wet on the GY wranglers.
But they're fairly new so I'll give them a short go and see.
No matter what tires you use on any vehicle.... always remember.... for every mile of road, there is 2 miles of ditch... so be smart

They've stuck around because people don't know any better. They just see "goodyears" and tgat they are cheap so they buy them. For some reason alot of people associate Goodyear with being a premier tire.
