Opinion on 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Hi y’all. I wanna know what you guys think about this Jeep. If it’s a good buy or not. I hope to gain some knowledge with the recommendations you give me. This is the link

He also sent me this picture as well showing the rust on the fuel tank. Is all of this worth it?

Not everyone is on Farcebook. If you want people to evaluate your purchase, you should post the pictures here, rather than linking to a site that is not accessible to everyone.

Based on the one picture you posted, I'd say walk away, but then, that's only one picture.

I've never seen a fuel tank rust like that before... I'd say keep looking... it also looks like it was hit in the rear, so I'd worry it has a poor previous history... ask for the VIN # and run a CarFax or AutoCheck... that's *IF* you're really interested in it... there are WJ's out there that don't have rust for around the same amount, maybe $500-$1,000 more... I'm looking to sell my '02 WJ with 137k miles, 4WD Selec-Trac, 4.0L I6, for $3,800 OBO... you'll spend up to that for a clean one with no major mechanical issues. Hope this helps. :)

Heh. I just bought one for $2300 with 202k that is almost spotless, but the PO could not figure out why it kept dying. I made the deal, drove away, and it died and would not restart. Classic CkPS symptoms. Had it towed home, popped a new CkPS sensor in it, and I'm good to go. :)

That is a cover that is like a skid shield in the north east is common its a bolt on part and not the fuel tank the fuel tank is plastic If the rest of the jeep looks okay and the price is not bad then replace the skid shield and go on! My 2 cents!

But if the skid plate is that rusted, it's not likely that the rest of the vehicle is in good shape.

But, if he's not going to share more pics......
