Default Nitro vs hydro (zone shocks)

One of my shocks blew so I need new ones. Looking at zone shocks. I was told that the nitro's are to stiff but I've also heard the hydros are to soft.

Opinions?

im pretty sure that you have it opposite, my zone hydros are strong and stiff, i'd imagine the more expensive nitros would ride more like a car then a lifted jeep.

General rule of thumb is that hydraulic shocks ride better, nitrogen charged shocks are stiffer, but last longer and don't have shock fade problems

Not necessarly true. White body shocks are all cheap(ie zone, skyjacker, procomp, ect) and will not ride as well as higher end shocks like Bilstein's. So either way hydro or nitro's arn't going to ride all that great.

really personal preference. I ran nitros on the wrangler, then replaced with hydros because, it me it was too stiff, especially for trail riding. Just stuck a 2" lift and gabriel proguard gas shocks on the cherokee. My quick test drive tells me they are may be too stiff, so may switch to hydros on it as well.

I have the nitros, and I think they are stiff, but not enough to bother me. This is the first lifted jeep iv ever been in so I can't compare. All in all I'd say I'm happy with them though.
