New jeep, new member
hey, i just joined this forum cuz i just got a nice new jeep, and it helps to have people with experience to ask questions should any arise but ya, i came across this jeep for sale on the side of the road, and looked and it was a 1993, I-6 h.o., tow package, 5 speed manual, and only 59,000 miles. it is in excellent condition, and so i knocked on the door to talk to the owner, and it was a nice elderly lady, and she said she wanted 3,400 for it, so i jumped on it. let me know what you guys think

very nice...and rare...its extremely hard to find a 4 door with the 5 sp manual...let alone the top of the line country..and even more so with less then 60k miles....i like it
i bought mine with 204k miles and its the same year, a 93 with a 5spd...i love it..its a 2 door too which i love too..but they are a lot easier to find with a manual
congrats on the new purchase
youve gota good start too..its nice when they have low miles like that bc you can tell just by looking at it that its got the factory 1 inch lift...when they get to have a lot of miles on them, the suspension sags a little, looking like the standard suspension....but it looks like youve got the factory one inch lift..id be willing to bet youve got the 8.25 rear end then too with limited slip

ya the color isnt my favorite, personally i like the charcoal gray. but ya, she rides wonderfully, this is my first jeep and i never knew they were so great, 4 wheels awesomely, and is way smooth on the interstate too. And also, something i didnt know, its quick too. outran my friends 98 f-150 with a 5.4 triton, flowmaster exhaust, and a k&n intake, and the jeep is stock. that was all the roddin im gonna do in it though, i jus wanted to see how it compared. how i plan to set it up is as follows:
2" lift
15x7 or 15x8 rims
30/9.50 tires
flowmaster super 44 exhaust
k&n intake
here's the deal, i dont want a super rock crawler, i still want that good mileage, and decent highway handling, thats why i got rid of my 86 ramcharger (12 mpg on a good day) but i still want enough ground clearance to go in the mountains on the trails to putt around or during hunting season. what type of lift do you guys suggest? like, spacer in front add-a-leaf in back, or spacer front block back, and with a 2" lift and this many miles, should i get new shocks with the kit too, or will i be ok? and last, any specific brand you guys would suggest i shoot for? thanks for any replies

the best way to see if its limited slip is to jack the rear end up, and turn one of the rear tires by hand..if the other tires turns with it in the same direction, its got limited slip...if it turns in the opposite direction its an open differential
and as far as the factory one inch lift goes, i can just about tell you by looking at it thats its got it..but i beilieve the best way is just to look at the suspenion...i can remember for sure how it looks, but if you look at the front coils, i believe there should be about a 1 inch think spacer on the top of the coil where it meets the body...but im not for sure on that one..mine has all that stuff that i mentioned, but i cant remember if when i didnt the lift and put the 2 inch spacers in if there was another spacer, or if mayby they just use a longer coil...but im pretty sure there would be a spacer...
but like i said, im 99% sure just by looking at it that you have the 1 inch lift
and as for the tire questoin, no bigger then a 30x9.5....even if you put a 2 inch lift on it, i wouldnt suggest anything bigger then that...mine had 30x9.5s before the 2 inch lift, and after, and they never rubbed before i put the lift on, and now, its just right with the 2 inch lift and 30s...

Great find! Just give it a new coat of paint, trim the fenders, add some more agressive tires, your good to go. With low "granny" mileage you shouldn't need another vehicle for 15 years. Mines got over 312,000 on it right now.
