Buy or pass?
Here’s the link to the Jeep on the dealerships website So I’ve been looking for an older jeep Cherokee and finally found one that I like and it’s very very clean for its age!!! The only problem is the dealer won’t budge on the price. He wants $4,995 for a Jeep with 182,000 miles and he said it needs new struts in about a month. I want something that will get me to work and back and some basic off road trails.. nothing too crazy.

Welcome to the site melimo93 !
Only you can make the choice your the one spending the money. It is a super clean looking jeep and the miles for the year are low. The good news they do not have struts so replacing the shocks will be a lot cheaper and simple! The problem I see is taking something that nice trail riding! Good luck on making the decision! but from what I see around here and the shape its in it will sell either to you or someone else. If its what you want Ask yourself Do you want to wait and try and find another one

Thank you for the reply!!! The trails I plan on taking it on aren’t anything crazy.. no rock crawling just basic off roads to camp grounds around the Tahoe national forest.. some don’t require 4x4 but it’s definitely preferred.

Nice looking 91, real clean.. Im sure he will get what he is asking.
That Jeep up here in AK would go for about what he is asking.
Here is a 94 with 144k on the clock going for 4800k here in AK

Ive seen them get up to 5k or 6k when snow season comes calling for Jeeps in that good of condition up here.

Maybe in Ohio, but not California. It's actually priced well for the market out here. Good clean XJs are hard to find out here, for a decent price. Also, FWIW blue book means nothing out here for resale, the market drives the price. Only people who use blue book are the insurance companies, because the prices in book out here are ridiculously low, so easier and cheaper for them to total it in event of an accident.

That Jeep would fetch the asking price where I am at. They are impossible to find clean here. Sometimes a cleaner built/lifted one will show up in the $7-8k range. Most are just worn out rust boxes. Some folks use to make trips down south and bring them back up for resale here in the rust belt. But even they have stopped for the most part.

A friend of mine just bought a clean 98 XJ last year with 160,000 on it for 3K. The year before that another guy I know got a 96 with about the same amount of miles and some rust on the rockers for $800. I only paid $600 for my 97 when I got it 3 years ago with 225K on it.

California clean classic '91 grill. I'd buy it. It really is harder to find those old ones in such clean condition. Prices are just going up. Will be hard to find another one like it if you like that old styling. I'd buy it, maybe try and get it down a bit to cover the new struts.
