Need to know name of part

Yes I searched. I have searched many times. I think the part is the rear shock mount or bracket, but none of the auto parts stores seem to have thus part name in stock or on order. So let me explain what it is.
the part of the shock that connects the shock to the bottom of the car itself. Its a plate with two screws (on a 1998 Cherokee Sport). Where the heck can I find this part? Mine is basically shattered. I have to drive to work everyday so I can't be without a car and I need to fix it myself due to funds. It looks lik ethe black plate in this pic but with only two screws. If you can send me a link to the part, you will be my hero. Muchos gracias. |
I believe that is a bar pin eliminator which is not a factory option. I think you can find one at many aftermarket retailers, maybe something like this http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/10124.html

That is not a bar pin eliminator (in the picture). The shock still has the bar pin. That looks like someones home made fix for stripped out nuts in the body. Pictures of the actual part in question would help.

Don't know what that contraption is in the pic but you want a genuine BPE.
Once installed, you'll never have to worry about snapped off rusty shock bolts again. These are the ones i installed on my XJ. http://www.morris4x4center.com/rough...t-rc-1089.html |

Thank you for answering guys.
Definitely not an after market piece. Its a stock piece that holds the shock onto the body of the car. Here a pic of mine. I tried to photograph the broken one but it didn't turn out. I guess it has four screws after all. |
The one in your original pic is a Karnage HD shock mount plate

I think you might be right LACK, but I can't find it for sale anywhere. I'm trying to get an Ebay link ideally or O'reily's or Advanced auto would be great. Thank you though for your help. Btw the only reason I ask is because I cannot find it for the life of me. Thanks again
I would look into bar pin eliminators. They will essentially do the same thing and replace the broken mount. |
If you are really needing something like this in a hurry and your jeep has a rear sway bar, there is a way. This was LACKs idea by the way. The rear sway bar mounts to the axle with something like a BPE. You can remove those sway bar mounts off the axle and use them at the top of the shock. Worked perfectly for me.
