My plan A and plan B
My first plan was to buy a Cherokee at the state auction for a screaming deal. I went to the auction and found my plan was blown out of the water. The bidding started at 1500 bucks for bare bones Cherokees with over a 100k on the clock. The highest price paid was 2700 clams for a pretty clean runner, the lowest was 1300 for a beater that was full of junk and the hood could not even be opened.
My new plan is to look for a Craigslist deal. I foun d a 91 two door that the guy says runs kind of crappy, but the engine was rebuilt not too long ago. I really want a 94-96 Cherokee, but I could live with a 91. What year was the first year of the HO 4.0? And what quirks should I expect with a 91? Rust should not be a problem in my neck of the woods, but where are the problem areas?

95+ has air bags, also I think they started the floor reinforcement thing that year too.91 was the first HO. The older Renix was still awesome though. 94 is my fav because no air bags and R134. However I dont know if its just because I have an SE or what but my dads 90 Laredo has a WAY better paint and undercoating. It may be related to the year though.

I went and looked at a 91 2 door today, walked away from it. It needed too much work before I could make it a driver, and it had the crappy ABS system on it. It took a shot to the right front, not real hard, but the fender was touching the door, it also needed a windshield and it had an aftermarket sunroof, plus it was red. Too many things against it.
