So my lift came in today an it should be a great day. 9 boxes full of rough country 6.5 long arm sitting in my closet. Well then I found out today I maybe losing my job in this wonderful world we all live in today. So as a married guy with two kids I know look at almost 1700 dollars worth of stuff sitting in my closet with complete disgust. Bowing how bad I wanna rip into it an enjoy it but can't. Needless to say depending on how tomorrow goes I may have to return it. Thought I'd share my pain with those who can really appreciate the dream on the brink of going down the tube. Not to mention the rest of the troubles losing your job with a family. Well not to bring the board down or anything just wanted to share my pain with those who would really understand. Plus I just bought my xj 2 months ago after not having any jeep at all for 4 years with these grand visions of wheeling. Lol so its alil more of a kick in the nuts knowing I chose the jeep for that purpose an it will not be a possibility for quite a long time if this goes down. Anyways thanks for letting me vent fellas

That sucks, man. My wife lost her job so I had to find a part time job on top of my full time.

Hope all works out.

Dude I'd be the happiest guy on the planet to be *** deep in a long arm lift this weekend. I'm a shipfitter an security isn't much better there. Lay offs are a given almost but this caught me way off gaurd an with my pants down. Thanks guys I don't dare complain bout it to my wife cuz is probably divorced an unemployed if I told her how sick I was over the lift lmao

i hear ya.

with my gf (and it seems to be common with many of us) the key is to refrain from talking/complaining/daydreaming about the jeep too much. my significant other doesnt bring it up much....but definately sees it as a money sink that just sits in the parking lot.

Lol anybody from Canada on this board? Maybe ill move up there. We are pretty much headed that way anyhow. Atleast they have a few decade head start working out the socialist kinks.

My wife likes the jeep an has an 01 2wd xj but after 2 months of listening to it non stop I wouldn't wanna see what happens if I tried to keep the lift with no job lol. Guess im glad to have Cherokee forum. Atleast I can be sad about losing it here along with talking bout the xj non stop without any condescending looks being shot my way lol

"you're always on that forum.....you have no money to spend and you haven't even gone wheeling yet"

"but babe....how will i learn unless i read"

***another look of death***

Install the lift, then you can get even deeper into Alaska and off the grid.

Neeland, I'm feeling your pain brother. Not that it helps a lot but you are not alone.

Heads-up. Networking is key. Find a local W.I.N.D. chapter (Wednesday Is Networking Day - if anything like that exists in your neck o' the woods). I'll recommend that you also create a LinkedIn account and build your on-line brand (free). You'll be amazed by the number of employers out there that search LinkedIn for talent. They have discussion groups too - I actually found & joined a Jeep group on it, among other groups of interest!

That was my thought too lol. That'd be a dream right there. Totally on your own off the grid an doing it on your own. Think that's what all true country boys dream about.

Yea the shipbuilding industry is volatile as it gets. One week they are standing over you with a whip while you work 13 hr days 7 days a week an the next they are talking lay off. Plus I work for an offshore company. We build 2-400 ft supply vessels for our own company. So with no real drilling at all going on in the gulf it kinda grinds things to a halt. Thanks for the pep guys I'm really hoping my hard work an pride in what I do will keep me there.
