Motor mounts besides brown dog
Hey guys what are some quality mounts besides brown dog. Installed the rubber ones from them last week just the way they said. I don't have too much vibrations at idle but in reverse order when I press the throutlet it vibrates bad. I'm thinking of getting some from Napa and swapping them

I'm installing BDs with my new engine, poly.
I expect vibes.........however........... If I were to go another route- I would cut the axle end off WJ LCAs (or similar) and fab my own.............not joking. Stock mounts suck. |
Did you check or replace your transmission mount? I installed the Brown Dog rubber mounts week before last and my transmission mount was pretty worn. Went ahead and installed a new trans mount and haven't noticed any significant vibes.

Love the Brown Dogs. I trashed my transmission mount by trying to hike the engine before releasing the transmounts so the vibrations are pretty rough right now. Raised the engine a little far and need a RMS now too :tongue_smilie:
I like the vibrations. They hide all the other noises my Jeep makes :icon_lol: |
I'm making my own motor mounts based off of Rustys design. Weld some 2 1/4" ID tubing and metal to the shape of the factory motor mounts, then press lower control arm bushings into the tubing. Easy to replace, cheap, and strong.

There are DIY poly mms. You take the old mounts off, cut out the old rubber, install the poly mount, reinstall the mm. I've done 2 sets. It's a pain but they are cheap & they work. I found mine on Ebay. Paid $30 shipped.

Running the same mounts. no vibs here, did not loosen my tranny mount. Your torque specs are not right or your transmission mount is shot. The washer should spin by hand with effort, but not super easy. play with the nut torque spec and then locktight the nut.

When you shift in to reverse or are holding the brake, your engine is putting torque load on the transmission which is in turn transmitting those vibrations through the engine mounts and the transmission mount. If the integrity of the mount material is bad, the vibes will be transmitted through the Unibody(which is part of the vibration issue due to not having traditional rubber or poly body mounts like a body on frame design) and in to your butt through the seat.

Had my Brown Dog mounts on for 2 weeks before I took them off and installed the NAPA's also.
