You could put together a stroker kit. Requires machining though. However 505 performance has stroker kits, but it would be cheaper to piece a kit together. Google it, theres all sorts of info on it

There are other upgrades you can do that are pretty easy and do make a difference. Look into injector swap, 99+ intake swap, and a bored throttle body.

4BT is a huge upgrade! Or an LS1.

Seriously though, what is your budget, expertise, and what have you already changed from stock? Do you already have what sthon mentioned? Have you looked at free-flowing intakes and exhausts?

I've done it many times. Only problem is, you will break EVERYTHING on your jeep. Do research on 99 and up intake, injectors, exhaust. Those are all good mods. The 4.0 makes plenty of power for a jeep.

What's a 'stroker'? like what's that mean when people talk about stroker engines?

It when to take the crank and rods out of a 4.2 l and mate them to the 4.0 pistons in a 4.0 block. Gives you a bigger stroke thus a stroker. There is quite a bit more to it than that, so I suggest researching it.

A stroker is any engine that has been modified with any crank that produces a longer stroke of the piston in the stock bore. This is good because as the piston is allowed to travel lower in the bore it draws in more air and fuel on the intake stroke, then the piston comes closer to the top of the cylinder on the compression stroke as well. You can also increase the bore size at the same time for even more cubes. An engine will only make as much power as air it can get in, t hats why a stroker is nice. there are a few easier upgrades to do in my opinion, before you go stroker crazy.
