Mobil Super 1300 15w-40? Heck yah! Any HDEO(Heavy Duty Engine Oil) formulated for diesel engines will be optumum for a 2.5 four banger or 4.0 six because diesel oils, even the newest LE(Low Emission) diesel oils have higher levels of Zinc/Phosperous than gasoline oils of today, which is what keeps our flat tappet cam/lifter combos alive under strenuous use. Diesel oils have higher quality oil base stocks, higher quality VIs(viscosity improvers) that wont shear as quickly as gasoline oil VIs, higher levels of detergents and dispersants(keeps inside of engine cleaner, suspends soot and breaks up sludge), are designed for longer drain intervals, and are of general higher quality than gasoline oils. Makes sense when you compare the average cost of a gasoline engine vs. average cost of a diesel engine, huh? But the cost of diesel oil vs. gasoline oil of same brand usually isnt that much more. For winter, use a 5w-40 "synthetic" diesel oil for quicker pumpability. Most 5w-40 "synthetic" diesel oils are group 3 base oil formulated, which is a severely Hydrocracked dino oil, which in Japan and Europe isnt considered a synthetic. Basically a Highly refined dino oil, so not to worry about seals leaking more vs. a true synthetic. Chevron Delo 400 5w-40 and Shell Rotella T 5w-40 Group 3. Mobil 1, Amsoil, Redline, Royal Purple, Motul 5w-40 group 4 and 5(true synthetics).
