Thought it might be a fun discussion to talk about mileage on the XJs. Even though there's a lot of variables I hear a ton of people just say "they'll run forever" but what is the highest mileage you've seen on yours or others? Is there a mileage limit you personally won't go over when looking at buying one?

 

As long as it runs and the price is right everything is fair game haha

 

lol I hear you. Found a '97 with 255k and asked my friend about it and he told me to go check it out and so I asked if he would be worried about the mileage and he said he would be more worried if they were selling it with 155k and that made total sense to me.

I bought mine with 222,xxx on it and now it has 311,xxx. going to keep it till it stops running or the body rots off. I drive it every day too.

 

Well, if it's listed at the same price is what he was saying. Would seem like something was fishy. But that still wouldn't stop me from looking at it lol

I remember reading online about a zj with 400k on it that had the 4.0 in it.Honestly any car can run forever if you take care of it and don't drive it like you stole it.

 

+1 Had over 300K on an '87 Toyota p/u. 32mpg carbureted. Got rear ended and that was that.

 

a good friend of mine has an 03 grand 4.0 with 308k on it. he believes a wrist pin is coming apart as it has a little tap tap tapparoo. he knows his **** with engines and has already got another same year engine, we are going to tackle the swap sometime in the next 2 weeks.
