havent seen it on a jeep but when I used to part of a firebird forum, saw a guy fiberglass over his stock center console to get the shape then sanded and primed and hand painted it for a show.... pretty sick stuff... it can be done.

^^thanks , wasny quite sure wher it would go.

That is a really sweet console!!! Did you do anything to seal the wood before covering it? Did you use 3/4 ply? Glue/finish nails/ or screws?

I used some of those pre cut home depot 1/2" plywood boards normally used for building furniture.

I used gorilla glue and wood screws to hold it all together.

No I did not pre treat the wood before applying the vinyl covering, and I actually took it down the street to the upholstery shop to have it covered for $125.00.
Well worth the expense if you ask me because I would have definitely butchered the vinyl job if I attempted that part.

He applied a very thin foam under the vinyl as he always does on this type of application and he used a puffier/ stronger excercise equipment type foam for the console lid where my elbow rests.

Yeah that's pretty cool. Seems like a time consuming job, but not extremely difficult. I think I might take this on as a garage project over the winter. I'm interested to see someone do it on an XJ

Took me 2 days to build it....first day to build the cardboard mock up, transfer that to the wood, cut it out, glue it all together.

Next day sanded it all down and made final adjustments, then took it to the upholstery shop.

I almost fell over because I thought it was just the cardboard and you did it as a joke.

But then I scrolled on, nice work man.
