Too much money for little, to no gain. Don't waste your money on a hub kit.

The price of the kit vs the gas it would save would take 10 years to break even i bet.And having to get out to lock the hubs and unlock them gets old sometimes.

They also use small weak hubs.

Honestly, and I'm sure you knew this was coming, for almost the same money you can swap a Dana 44 into your Jeep and have manual locking hubs.

Not sure what kind of fab skills you have but you could put dana 44 inner c's and d44 knuckles on your dana 30. This would give you dana 44 hubs and get rid of your unit hubs.

If I'm not mistaken the aftermarket inner dana 30 shafts use the same size u joint as a dana 44 so it'd be feasible to use an aftermarket inner 30 shaft and the factory 44 stub shafts.

Its been a thought in my mind but I havnt tried it yet so if anyone knows more or if I'm wrong please educate us.

I'd go this route long before I tried to swap C's or bought a hub kit.

I hadn't either. I just saw them when I searched for swapping the C's like you suggested. It's a pretty good option if you're hell-bent on keeping the 30 housing.

Only issue I see with that is that you'd have to go with either 6 lug or 5x 5.5 and do custom shafts out back.

Pretty much the same case if you swap in a complete 44.

I'd still do a full D44 axle swap though.

I'm sure you could have the hubs re drilled in the front to 5x4.5

You can't go that small with standard locking hubs. The internal hub diameter is too large for that bolt pattern.

^ this. No wheel would fit on it with the hub there. 5x5.5 is as small as you can go.

Yup, for flat top Reid Racing knuckles that ain't a bad price if you're debating buying lock out conversions and dead set on keeping the Dana 30.

For that kind of $ I think I would weld CJ Dana 30 C's to a XJ 30. The 44 C's take a bigger diameter tube & the CJ C's are use the same diameter tube as the XJ/TJ.

This looks much cheaper & probably easier than welding C's on.
