Default Lift kit advice

Im looking at adding a 3" lift. I started to look around and found many styles. Coil vs bushings, add a leaf vs block? What's the better one to use? Spending about $300.

For $300 all you have available is rough country. Bottom feeder of the suspension world but in your budget.

save your money and get a more complete suspension lift
aal will go saggy and blocks will warp your axles over time
all the brands are gonna be about the same quality and price

Add a leaf and blocks are bad. Full leaf pack only. all xj's use front coils. Don't know what you are talking about when you say coils or bushings.

That's a tough one...for $300 you're really limited to block or add-a-leafs, and neither are a very good idea. If you can possibly go up to $500-$600, RC sells their 3 inch lift kit with full rear spring pack, which would be the best solution for your budget - it will cost a bit more up front, but aal or blocks will definitely incur more expenses further (not so much further, though) down the road.

I think he's referring to coil spacers.

I think it would be good to let us know what you want to use your Jeep for once lifted. Do you just want to stuff larger tires on for looks? If so, and you're okay with the idea, just do some fender choppin'. If you plan to do mild trail riding, AAL are okay for a while. The coil spacers are not designed to lift you 3 inches. If you're thinking of stacking them, DON'T do it! I think you're going to want a lift system. I know you're looking for a simple answer, but do a little more research. Remember, most of the people here are just trying to help and are speaking from experience. Just my $ 0.02. Good luck.

With a block or spacers, you won't get the suspension travel that you get with a coil/leaf replacement. You only get the look.

you might consider looking at rocky road, http://www.rocky-road.com/ and check out the minimum lift package. not sure on prices, but they usually have a base lift kit and you add on from there. just an option.

i agree that your best bet would be to save up more cash and buy a solid lift kit. the most expensive stuff you buy is stuff that doesn't work or breaks right away

I recommend full length add a leaf/full leaf packs/extended shackles to lift. using blocks on the leafspring will give you axle wrap. also full length aal doesnt sag i had my full length leaf spring for a 1.5 years and it never settle even with wheeling trips.
