I'm looking to upgrade the sound system in my 92 2-door, need some ideas for brands, placement, etc. I'm not even sure what size the stock speakers are, I think 4x6?
I was thinking infinity 3 or 4 way speakers in the doors, 2 way speakers in the cargo door, and a kicker a sub woofer, with an infinity amp.
What does CF think?

My 95 has 5.25 in front and back, I have bottom of the line Alpines in front, JBL's in the rear, 500 watt Alpine mono block amp ($139 at Best Buy) to a 12in. Kicker Comp S sub($70) in a ported enclosure (35).

Pioneer HU (About a $100 I think), my system sounds so good I can't justify spending more on it, even though I'd like some component speakers up front, I don't think the difference would be worth it cause it sounds good now.

I believe most car audio is hype anyway to get you to spend more $$$, so for about $475 spent, I'm satisfied.

I have a Pioneer POS radio with Pioneer 6.5"s up front Power Acoustic 6.5"s in a sound bar from a 94 XJ wired to the speaker wires for the front tweeters (I later removed the gate speakers). I also have two 10"s running off of a 150watt 2 channel nonbridgeable amp from Power Acoustic. Have the system faded mostly to the rear to keep my 4 6.5s from working so hard and the subs produce a decent amount of all round sound since they are dual voice coils and I have no filters on the amp. Sounds good no matter what music I put on. Sounds like live music to me.

Sony XPlod head, nice to run tunes from the usb stick, 5.25 pioneer front (behind the original retro Jensen grills) and back with extra sound holes cut and screened below the speakers to let out a little more sound. 10 in marine mtx woof in a closed box (free old 12 box). The 400W amp for the sub rides with the sub, normally box is across the back but can stand up and bugie to the spare for more room.I recommend a cover for your subs, mine has survived the dog climbing all over it for couple years. Maine sub survives snow rain and dog drool. 2nd matching amp of the front speakers is in pocket under rear seat storage area. Plenty loud!(NOTE: No stereo when the dog is in the truck, your dogs ears are too sensitive). I'd say sound quality is moderate with about grand total invested, and over 3 years of primarily rock, metal, and grunge.
System has held up to rough riding and extreme weather. There are better components out there, are larger investments suitable for the rigours and exposure they can see in a jeep?
The Peep needs a little bit of tunes to drown out all the other natural jeep sounds
