How did I do
Very NICE. I like the 2 door version. And a GREAT Price. Guys here in VA and NC have gone nuts on the price of XJs. The last couple I bought was because they were STOCK.
A lot of people here put all the MODS on 80% are done wrong. And they want all the money it cost them to screw the Jeep up. I avoid them at all cost.
I just bought a 99 XJ it was semi running and it just died. Perfect body and Great interior. I gave $700 for it. I figure the replacement motor I bought and getting it going again will be around 1000 bucks. So I am VERY HAPPY at having the 99 for under 2 K. 85% I looked at had rust issues or drivability issues due to the MODS the owner put on it.
I use mine for DDs and for the beaches, and moderate trail use. And with a 2 inch lift and 30s on them. I can go anywhere I want to go. And drive them on the highway ay 70 mph. Without any issues.
I did buy a 98 that had a straight body good transmission and transfer case. And decent interior. But a slight knock in the lower end. But all of it will be used to convert my 88 MJ pickup to a drivable up to date little hauler. With an updater interior. Going to use the front clip and interior for the MJ. And do a complete 4.0 rebuild to go into it. So I have a nice 4x4 MJ. That will stay in the family. Only out side mod on the MJ will be a 3 inch lift with 30s and air/adjustable rear shocks. For different loads.
I thing once you drive a decent XJ. You will find it to be one of the best Jeeps ever made, and I have had almost every type they produced up to 99. And yours looks like a GREAT one to start with.

This one is a 95 me thinks for sale at $11,000 😖 Owner has done a lot of changes but I tried buying it for cheaper. Every day owner had some new excuse why he couldn't do the sale. I still want it 😜👍🏻

Man they have a 2001 Limited with 73,000 on it in excellent condition. And its a 2.5 Turbo Diesel right hand drive. Of course it is in England. But they want the equivalent of $7200. Man I would LOVE to be able to get this one. It is on EBAY now.
Oh yea the point.... 11.000. for that XJ?
Man I need to get some flat paint quick.....

Man I was just messing with you. We were talking about this on another thread. If it is what you want and have the Money go for it. 11Gs sounds like a lot to me here in VA. But the nicer XJs are going up and up here as well. A decent one not all butchered up or rusted with decent mileage, are around 5K. I have seen some deals though for around 3500. We have a lot of Navy guys here. And sometimes they get forced to sell pretty decent Jeeps because of re deployment. I will get a picture up soon . But I picked up a 99 XJ with an almost perfect body and Interior. The 4.0 was going out. it is gone now. and I am working on another 4.0 to go into it. But I got it for $700. 1 owner driver. Who kept it up.
So there are deals out there. You could find a Midwest or east coast one and have it shipped. Good luck on your search!!!

skarpyona - I'd say you got a pretty good deal at that price. I bought the same basic vehicle about 4 years ago and paid $1,500. Mine's a bone stock '95 2 door with no extras (power windows, air conditioning, etc.) which is just what I wanted. Mine is black and has the same gray interior as yours. Everything works, the engine is strong and the only thing missing was the cross rails for the roof rack. Coincidentally - 300,000km / 185,000 mi.!
The body and paint are good but I knew mine would need new rockers and floors and that's what I'm working on now. If you don't have to get into that the extra $500 is well worth it!
BTW - Like you, I have a TJ too. Nice combination to have.

Yea your right the 4.0 and 2.5 Diesel are 2 completely different animals. But right at 40 MPG with a lot of torque I just like them. For the longevity mileage and torque. ( which I am using my 96 XJ for work at 58 cents a mile) I would double my EXP Checks. Not to mention it would be one of the very few Diesel Jeeps around.
Just something different. And if you could put a larger intercooler for more HP....
Don't get me wrong I think the 4.0 is one of the best 6 cylinders ever built.
And the only diesel Jeep I ever drove was a diesel Liberty. And it was just OK. Now a lot of folks are looking for them. But Jeep could not give them away when they were available.

Hey guys, long time no see! I have been very busy the past couple of weeks but I have a build direction and will be starting a build thread soon. So far some work has been done and all will be listed. A link will be posted, don't go too far
