Jeep Commander?

To me the commander seems like a modern xj with a bunch of usless added on things to the boddy. People around my school think the same. They look great lifted, what do yall think about them. Just though id ask.

Commanders are IFS correct?

zjbednorz 05-22-2010 09:37 PM

You know I hadn't seen one with a lift before and now that I have I like it a little better.
The body style resembles an elongated xj and I think looks goofy stock.

But I'd rather buy an XJ for a couple thous than throw down 30 grand on that thing...
They should have continued the XJ model, it's the perfect size SUV for most people

I say no because it was designed by Chrysler.

Chrysler may have continued building the XJ but they had no say in its original design. To prove my point even further why do you think all the 97+ era XJ's have more problems. Oh yeah, Chrysler face lift. Next case in point is the head issues on the later ones, another Chrysler engineering wonder.

Keep the XJ and spend 30k on a new mustang. The V6 will be making 300hp and the GT (V8 model) will be making over 400hp for under 22k and 30k respectively. To top it off the base model is said to get 30mpg highway.

We had a Commander and I did like it. They are IFS and are not only available with the v6 but also a Hemi and 4.7 flex fuel options. They are also a seven passenger suv and much bigger than the Grand Cherokee I currently have. So the only comparrison they actually have to our beloved XJ is styling. Its model designation is even simililar XK. We leased ours and wanted to buy it but chose to find a cheaper WJ. They are capeable offroad but some what big on MI trails. It also did great at Sliver Lake. Stock with a v6.

Ok apparently I need to move where ever you guys are up here northern AB our comanders are about 40,000 to 45,000 if you don't get the hemi I find the patriot is closer to the styling of the xj no where near as capable but way better than the cobalt my gf was driving in our 9 months of winter prior to her patriot cobalt is the only car i've ever driven that slides in the rear WITHOUT the ebrake. I like the comanders when all lifted up but I'd buy the comander for getting groceries and keep my xj for getting mud
