Jeep cherokee
I was driving down the highway and I my tranny just lost power and would not turn the driveshafts. Would this be a cracked flex plate / flywheel ?? I'm clueless on what happen. Haven't has a problem at all. 1999 jeep cherokee

You need to be more descriptive. If you were driving it, how do you know the DS's weren't spinning? Auto or manual trans? Engine revved up, but no go? Engine still running? Power at all? Vague descriptions yield vague results...

The engine was still running I could shift gears it's a aw4 automatic transmission and it wouldn't pull anything transfer cases are good seems like maybe a flex plate or flywheel. The tranny was spinning like it was trying to turn but it wouldn't go anywhere

If it was a broken flex plate you would hear a gawd awful noise anytime the engine was running. It's not the flex plate. Check the tranny fluid.

Another for check tranny fluid. And if it slowly leeking out you msy have some wear inside. If this is the case, find the leek, stop it, then probably best to change tranny filter. Its an easy job just have to scrape away ALL the old gasket

I agree with whats posted above. If the flex plate was broken it would be loud and would most likely give you a heads up when it was on its way out, not just all of a sudden out of the blue. First thing i would do is check your transmission fluid. When your at it check all lines to and from the transmission (fluid lines, kick down lines, etc.)

I checked tranny fluid it's nice and red. Plenty of it in there and no leaks. Filter was just replaced about 30,000 miles ago. I checked flex plate it was good transfer case was good. It will shift in to gears just it won't pull.
