We don't need that.

It is always hard to tell with Grands. I see so many at such a wide variety of pricing. Just be sure to go through it thoroughly. If you can, pull the plugs and look at them. Check the compression. Give it a GOOD drive. Make sure you shift and drive it in all gears and drive modes. Run the AC (even if it is cold outside).

If all checks out....and the market (in your area) is similar, sure thing.

The low miles would scare me buying it.Its sat a long time so once you drive it normally things start going wrong.

It seems highly priced to me.

Grand Cherokees are dirt cheap vehicles, granted people put high price tags on them claiming them to be "luxurious."

These are also known for having electrical problems, if I remember correctly. Check for those.

Name a Jeep that does not have rumors of electrical issues. Or any Chrysler, GM, or Ford product for that matter. 9500 bucks is kind of high for a private seller, but about right for a dealer to be asking.

In my area that's a $6-7,000 tops.

this is partially true, I read an article years ago and sometimes red flags should be waving when the vehicle has low miles...

simple deduction should be:

a) it simply wasn't driven much/far..
b) it had mechanical issues with lots of down time...

way over priced !!!

They Say Great Minds

Think alike. I have considered most of all the issues that you all have mentioned. The owner, the second, seems clueless about vehicles. Doesn't seem to know much about them or the maintenance/repair history. He says he hasn't driven it much, has had no problems, but had to replace the rotor and pads on "one" rear wheel? Weird unless the fronts have already been replaced before he owned it, but is that likely with such low mileage? Motor on one of the windows. These are the types of problems that I read a lot about occurring in these vehicles.Price is high and I have discussed that with him. Edmunds max price is 6,555. Kelly is 7,616.

Still looking for input.

Thanks.

I did just check kbb on it though used a local zip code...and price did come out to around $7500 (didn't know all the various options to check, so went middle of the pack).

Check the heaters/aircon. I nearly bought one once but the heater went pop on the test drive and the guy rolled his eyes and offered it to me for scrap value. I didn't take it.

My ZIP

Came up 7616 for Outstanding. I haven't seen it yet so I don't know. Hard getting a dialog going with the owner. Says he's very busy so I put it on him to suggest a few days and times that he is available to show it. I don't think I'll pay much more than 7500 unless he lets me poke around. You know, pull a few plugs, remove some wheels to check the brakes. I'd like to get it to my mechanic friend to run an analyses to see if any codes come up. I am well aware of the issues with these things and the blower door problems. Does anybody know if the heater core is plastic? A car that sits tends to rust out the radiator, core and maybe even the H20 pump.

He's getting cold feet and trying to back out. :chilly:

andrewmp6 12-15-2013 06:32 AM

It could be the wife told him to sell it so they listed it sky high hoping no one will call.I would look around for a v8 one so it will have more power to it.

Could Be Right

I haven't heard back from him since he said I could make an offer.
