i need to know
not only a great tom petty song, but i need to know what the powerband for the 4.0 HO is. im needing to regear. im thinking either 4.10 4.56 or 4.88. ive got hte 4.0 with the ax-15 tranny and np231 transfer case. i will be towing so a little more power would be nice but i wont be towing often, but when i tow its long distances...
oh and im running 33's
thanks'

4600rpm... lol
4.56s should be fine, you want around 22-2500 rpm at highway speeds.
AX15s final drive ratio is .04 (.75 AW4, .79 AX15) higher than the AW4, I remember looking up 33s and gears for the AW4 and it was 4.56. They will work fine and there would be little to no difference between .75 and .79.

I'd stick with 4.10's.
we've got peak torque at a little over 2000 rpms. 4.10's with the 5 speed on 33's would put you at 2144 rpms in fifth gear at 65 mph. if it were the automatic I'd say 4.56's

With manual tranny, 4.10 is typaically the prefered gear set. But don't just go by others opinions, or mine. Use the following to select your gear ratio.
