So the engine makes a noise when it gets louder? Maybe it can be a bad motor mount. I'm sort of confused with the question

Did you smoke the clutch in it? If your in gear and try to accelerate does the engine just rev up as if there's no load on the engine ?

So then stop trying to figure it out.
Also,
Where hes from does not pertain to the problem at hand.
So it doesnt matter.
Sounds like transmission problems, maybe bad clutch disc or pressure plate.

ok,maybe i didnt get ur point, but one thing that am sure is the engine which i change is in good condition.the clutch disc, pressure plate and transmition box is good again the Ring And Pinion r also good.
so i think the problem is a gear ratio, cause i only change the engine not the transmition box.the toyota 5L engine with jeep transmition box.so maybe they r not compatable.
so they ask me to change Ring And Pinion or the transmition box with same toyota 5L.
here is detail on the car
engine toyota 5L 2.8 diseal
tire size 235/75R15
Ring And Pinion 41x10 teeth

What is the maximum RPM of both engines? (assuming both are diesel..)
Does it have a tach?
How many RPM does it turn at say 60mph or 100 kph?
Its possible you may just have a fueling issue and its not getting enough fuel to make anymore RPM, thus starving for fuel.
If you can answer those questions it will be a good start.
Okay I see the answers above.....
4.10 gears is LOW for a low rpm diesel.
If the engine pulled out turned 3500rpm and this one 2800 rpm your going to have re-gear it with some 3.07's to get the cruising speed up.
3.07's are easy to find from a stock 4.0 5 speed XJ, but not sure what type of rear end they would have used, or if the lowly D35 would hold up with diesel torque.
