how are you in the snow?
 

Hello forum I'm from the north Atlantic the good Ole 4.0 stock was the best thing on the snow I've ever drove I was wondering I have a 4.5in lift and 33 " tires I wanted to know how your jeep does in the snow? Thanks a bunch

I'm at 5.5" with 35/12.5 Wrangler MTR's. The wide MT tires tend to float a bit on the deeper snow, but in all reality, I'm blasting through 3'+ of snow with no problem... Buffalo NY

big mud tires just totally suck in the snow. sure with 3 feet of snow on the trail while in 4lo is a walk in the park, on the streets with hard packed shiny snow is more like a skating rink with any large mud tire with no siping.
i am also running MTR on both my TJs that i drive during winter.
my big xj has IROKs that have a bit of siping which really helps.

but the best in my fleet in winter is my little 3 inch xj on 30 inch goodyear ATS. not a dedicated winter tire, but being smaller and better tread pattern, i get anywhere as long as i'm in 4wd.

Yes. I love my 33x12.5 BFG KM2s on the rocks but they make my rig a ditch-magnet in the snow.

My winter DD is a 04 GC with AT tires on it and it does very well. The XJ has 4 1/2"'s of lift running 33x12:50's M/S locked ft. and rear with Detroit lockers mostly used off road and it does quite well also in deep snow.

Mine sits on 4 1/2" and 32" Duratracks. Not a problem last winter and so far this winter.

At 6.5" and 35s, I do great untill it is deep enough to slow me down and high center me... I think the biggest thing in deep snow is to keep up your speed. Lockers help quite a bit too.

Packed snow/ice I also do fine. I frequently have to tow my neighbors/wife etc. up a steep incline on the dirt road to my house. It is all in how you drive/ what tires you have. The duratracs really are awesome and i can't wait to get another set. The treadwright gaurd dogs also work great with the kedge grip.. like previously stated, all dedicated MTS suck and in my experience, even Ats suck once they pack full. Ive ran studded tires and dont care for them. They are great in some situations and terrible in others.

I made a decent amount of money last year winching/pulling people back on the road. Ive had people give me anywhere from 20$-100$ for pulling them out (cheaper than tow truck!) There has not been enough snow yet this year... just freezing rain and a few inches here and there. Last year we had almost 10' on the mountain behind my house... I love the snow!

I was at 3.5" on 31" BF T/As last year and thought it did great. Drove cross PA home to NJ during a bad snow storm and was confident in myself and my jeep. This year I'm up to 4"s and new duratracs so I'm even more excited for it.

Wide, aggressive Super Swampers and a welded diff should be terrifying in the snow but its actually very controllable and works awesome. I can feel if I have grip or not (the rear hops when I have grip and is smooth when I don't)
I have to really be stupid with the throttle to go sideways and even then after doing some parking lot drifting, its extremely predictable and easy to control in a slide. 33" SSRs with a ton of siping and grooving. Not much tread left but they will work for the rest of this winter.

Mine does fine in snow. On and offroad. Last year I was driving around in 30"'s in the mountains with no issue.

Yup, did the same to my old bias TSLs (those were awesome everywhere), and my old Baja Claws (those still sucked everywhere)

I have the 31" Hankook Dynapros and they are fairly good in the snow. Reliable in wet icy scary snow up to about 40mph in 2wd. I think the 10.5" width doesn't help too much when its wanting to hydroplane over snow, but it digs in well on real powder and stuff like that. Ice it is decent but not great. I could probably add some more siping, but its pretty good already.

Had a set of 33" General grabber red letters. Last year we got about 8". Was not impressed by them at all. This year I have cooper sst 33". Maybe they will be better.
