How much is this XJ worth?
I am looking to buy this cherokee.
It's a 98' with 106K miles. The exterior and interior condition is really nice. Mechanically I'm not sure, but I assume it's in good condition, but then again its never good to assume.
mods it has
Roof rack
3 inch (i forgot which brand and type)
31" BFGoodrich AT/KO
Some wheels (Anyone know what type? and brand, they looked like Dick Cepeks but they're not)
Rear tire carrier
Rusty's cut out fender flares (I think)
Snorkel
(Oh and the first thing i'll do is remove the XJ Safari thing)

Judging by how immaculate the exterior and interior look i'd say it was probably very well taken care of, but it never hurts to check on some stuff. As for a price, mods dont really add very much to a sale price so maybe like 4000, most I'd pay for it would be 5000 and that might even be a bit high.
I bought mine stock last year. A perfect condition 01 with 50Kmi on it for 5200 and I don't think I exactly got a smoking deal so I'd say like between 4 and 5 is right for that. But hey, maybe those beads hanging from the mirror in the 1 pic comes with it, that sure increases the value.
And also, the first thing you should realy do if you plan on wheeling it at all is taking those sidesteps off, or you will snap them off on the trail.

Assuming it is mechanically sound (it appears to be really well maintained), I think $7500-8000 would be a good ballpark guess. Maybe even a little more?
I know people balk at paying that much for an XJ, but that is a really sharp looking Jeep. I would pay it.
Also depending on where you live, i.e. city/rural/etc., that will affect its value.

First off. You gotta reduce the size of those photos! Now assuming it`s in good operating condition which from looking at it and the miles it should be I`d say $4000 is a good deal for it from a private party. Maybe more since they saved you the time and cost of buying and installing the lift.

I think they are currently selling for 4-5k. Lifts and stuff really don't seem to add value, depending on the person though it might. Looks clean, just don't pay more than 5.

Flippin' sweet, I would pay $4500. Paid $3500 for my well maintained '97 with same mileage w/out the mods, private party, and 100,000 miles later and counting it's money well spent I think.

i wouldnt pay more then 5 grand...yea it looks sharp and all, but you could just as easily go out and spend 2500 on a 97 stock XJ with just a few more thousand miles and do those mods yourself and have about 4500 into it

I wouldn't go more than more than $4500. I spent $3200 on my 99 stock with 113k on it and knew I was spending about $400 more than I should have, but I really wanted it I've put about $2k into mine and it has a swing out rear tire carrier compared to the hitch mount one. Mods don't add that much value to a vehicle in all reality.

Wow, that is a nice looking jeep.
I think what it's worth depends on the person. If you are going to lift it anyway, being that the work is already done and has a nice lift might be worth paying a bit more, than for someone who is not looking for that. In that case, mods won't add to the value.
I think $4500 is a good price.

4500 max for me and my taste. I'd have to take half of the mods off just to wheel it and not feel bad.
Wheels are ugly and too fancy and I could probably sell them for enough to buy most of a set of beadlocks, roof rack is a tree catcher, running boards would be smashed in minutes, and the bumper lights would be shattered after following a fast group on the trails. Not to mention the street tires.
Snorkel is a plus even though I would end up smashing it and replacing it once in awhile.
Not sure about the flares and fitment after a bigger lift and tires.

My M3 came w/a bunch of extra things including a spare set of gaudy 19" chrome wheels, amps, x-overs and speakers.
Sold all that crap for about $2100 and got some real nice OEM 17" wheels and sticky tires for $500.
