How to mount?

I wanna mount it on the rear quarter panel, which side I'm not sure of yet, but how do you screw down the bolts?? Take off the tailight? If someone has a write up, I thank you!

Heres a few of mine installed. The driver side is a major pain because of all the metal in the way. My buddy loved how mine looked and bought the same mount and did it on the passenger side and it was WAY easier.

Yeah man, I'd like an install write up or somethin if you could?

I didnt really take any pictures when i did it but ill write up what i remember. I also did driver side because my CB is on that side. The 18 ft of cable should have been more than enough if i put the mount on the passenger side.

1st. Find out where you want it and what side. (i did driver side obviously)

2nd. Depending how "perfect" you want it, use a tape measure, ruler, level or whatever you want to make sure its fairly straight

3rd. Mark and drill the two holes the correct sizes, the little instruction booklet says what size they are.

4th. Clean out the holes with either a deburring tool or rat tail file.

5th. Install the rubber gasket onto the mount and put through the 2 holes. The metal support plate on the inside of the vehicle, and isolate the top antenna bolt with the plastic isolator/spacer provided. Then put the 2 bolts on loosely to hold it in place.

6th. Put the coax wires on (the one with the copper mesh goes on bottom bolt) and then tighten it all up

7th. Run your wire through the side trim all the way up front (dont really need to take it off to do this, just lift the molding and jam it under with a screwdriver)

8th. Connect cb up and enjoy!

Its not really anything complicated. All fairly straight forward and simple. If you do the driver side, you may end up cutting some metal to get your hands down into the area your going to be working at while the passenger side has nothing in the way.

Only thing i recently noticed was i think after the few months ive had the mount on, the bolts may have loosened up a tiny bit. I imagine this is because it hits my garage door every time i pull in or back out. Other than that, no complaints at all! Let me know if you need anything explained more.

EDIT::noticed you said something about taking the taillight off, no need to do this at all. Your going to be taking one of the side panels off in the cargo area and working back there.

side mounted antennas don't last long here in the trees.
might want to think about that if you wheel the same type of trails.

Not really any tight trails around here either. Theres a few offroad parks that i would like to check out this summer though.

oh, then in that case, remove the inside rear most panel. the one behind the spare tire mount. you may have to remove that first, then you can see the body metal exposed.
mark and drill your holes, then install the antenna mount and use washers to bolt it up.
hook up the coax, then route your antenna wire how you want it, and reinstall the panel.

just don't drill into the fuel throat.
