How Many XJ's Were Built Each Year?

Has anyone seen any numbers on how many XJ's were sold and built as a given model year?

I know there is often a difference between when a Jeep was built and when it was sold, for instance my 96 was probably built in 95, but...

It would be interesting to see, in 86, there was ____ , in 87 there was ____, etc.

Reason I ask, I have a 96 and 98, there are TONS of questions from owners of 96xj's, very few from owners of 98xj's - which leads me to wonder, were there just a ton of 96xj's sold, or do they have more mechanical issues or are they just getting to the age where they are really wearing out.

Anyway, if anyone has this info, I would love to see it.

Thank you all for the quick responses! So there were more 96's than other years, that makes sense why there are more questions about 96's.

Anyone have a source for a break-down by model? For me I'd like to know the number of Cherokee XJ's versus the number of Wagoneer Limited XJ's produced in 1987?

Damn 96-97 was booming.

thatXJguy 10-13-2012 03:14 PM

And how many out of that 2.8 million were shamelessly destroyed in Cash for Clunkers?

Bustedback 10-13-2012 03:44 PM

Even if it was only one it's too many. Cash for Clunkers was the worst thing to ever happen for gear heads.

So where demo races. I had a 68 tornado, that needed a 1/4 panel. Never was able to find one!

It's truly a disgrace. It is purposely taking good vehicles off the road permanently.

This will only help the rich get richer and take good quality cars off the road hurting everyone not in the market for a new car.

It says on the sticker on the driver door.

Cheapy Jeepy 02-23-2018 11:41 PM

Aww, that's my problem, I didn't see a sticker on the door.
Thanks!
