how much this locker gonna run ya? plannin on doin the same thing on mine...figure a locker in the back and some mud tires will compensate for the lacking of 4wd :D

The Aussie is absolutely silent while driving straight, only clicks around corners. So unless your driving around Talladega or Daytona Speedway or something it shouldn't be that bad.

Thats exactly it, no 4x4 so im putting in a locker. A guy here quoted me $1100 to buy and hed put in a detroit locker with some some kit that brought it up to $1500. I can get a housing for free from a friend of mine who is switching to a 44 on his in the rear, so all im doing is putting the locker in. Ill see what the same guy says if buy an aussie from him and he puts it in, if its around $700 or less then im golden.

LOL, yeah...Its the 29 splines that are f***ing you...because there seems to be alot more for the 27 count.

But heres one for $450 on Rusty's

http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchan...egory_Code=LOC

Detriot also makes 2 different ones for the 8.25/29 on there as well, in the $550-$650 range

never really thought of which spline mine would be, im hopin 27 now :D how hard is it to put one in yourself? Got some buddys that are pretty mechanically inclined and im not bad myself, I just dont do major engine work/transmission work. Now are you guys talking about like a locker that does what a limited slip does, but do it better? Like the kind that doesnt eat up your rear tires?

Im talking about ratcheting lockers E.G. Lockrights, Aussie, & Spartan, that yes, work better than an LSD.
Not to be confused with Spools, the kind that arent meant to be driven on the road. Spools are for offroad only rigs. The kind that "Eat up" your tires on the road.

They go in pretty easy...If you do the work to your vehicle yourself, installing one of these, should be easy. Plus theres like a million install articles online, if you ever need any help or clarification.

nice, just dopped a little over a grand in mine, lift/tires/wheels. Spent an entire summers worth of money in 2 days......but it wasnt bad, that was installed and all

XJs-R-us 09-04-2010 05:34 PM

DUDE454, $700 sounds about right for what you got, if you install it yourself.

thats not bad, the only thing i worry about is the whole "you get what you pay for" effect taking its toll....I mean what is the difference between the 300 dollar locker and the 800 dollar locker?
