How do i fix this... (LCA mount on axle)

Well did my wheeling damage inspection... and noticed my lca mount on the axle got bent... its weird as it was flattened... how do I fix this? Haha I was thinking just take it off, hammer it straight, and cut out 2 3/16 templates to help beef it up. And weld it up.

You can buy replacement brackets made out of 3/16 steel. They're relatively cheap I think you can get them from quadratec but not %100 sure

My friend did the same thing to his, he ended up getting the Rustys lower mounts. If you try to straighten them they will just break off. Here are the mounts he's running. http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/merchan...ry_Code=BP-B_S

I've used 3 sets of Rusty's and they work great. Running a set on my current setup.
|
Alright thanks guys i can probably get it welded up at school uhm. Is it okay to run as a dd for a few days maybe even a week how long is that able to run... like it is ?
|
My drivers side is jacked! I ordered the rusty's brackets in the link the jeep speed ones. They are beef! But also cost $83 or so shipped but whatever lol I just need to install mine
|
Yeah lol im not working right now. Im gonna heat it up and and straighten it, weld some 3/16 plate to each side and gusset it.
|
Just use a hammer, don't heat it up. Heat will weaken it. Bad idea even if you are going to plate it
|
all i got say is fix it fast dont run it that mine broke a few day after i messed up mine and snaped right off not a good day
|
Sorry for crappy cell pic. Mine did the same thing from being smooshed against a rock or ten. I bought the Rustys mounts but have yet to weld them on.

I say take the dimensions of the other side and build 2 new ones yourself

Ya this is my drivers side one. And I'd build one if it wouldn't cost me almost as much in just metal, the rusty's brackets are hella beef

I hate to bump up an old thread, but did you ever get this done and did you take photos of the process and/or end result?
I'm about to tackle this on my TJ's D30 and wondering how much of a pain in the *** it is. |
