How bad are burnouts??

I have a 2000 jeep cherokee classic with an Automatic trans and the straight 6. Small rough country lift and 31x10.5 coopers. How much strain am I putting on the drive train when doing burnouts on wet asphalt?

A lot you can break lots of parts ,like drive shaft , rear end and maybe the transfer case . but its fun until it breaks .

You ARE serious, right? Anything can happen and usually does. This comes from a guy who was stupid enough to drag race his only set of wheels!

Only thing it really hurts is the tires.

This is true, but it puts an excessive amount of pressure in the pinion bearings. In my 67 SS Camaro, I blew the Posi once and a side gear once because of the great hook-up it had. At that point I replaced all the parts with L88 Corvette parts.

An XJ on wet roads won't hook up nearly as good as your Camaro did and it has less than half of the power, apples to oranges comparison.

More pressure than a full throttle pull through first gear on dry pavement? Obviously, wheel hop and that sort of thing would add a lot more stress.

This is true, plus he has the Chrysler 8.25 diff as well. Okay, let him have his fun! LOL! I'm 75 years old and have broken quite a few things in my life. You're only young once.

Meh, you're not putting a whole lot of torque through the driveline on wet pavement.

it's ok to play, but STOP once you feel any little bit of wheel hop. that's when shiat starts breaking.

Anytime you push the limits, you're adding risk.

If you're only doing it once in a while, whatever, have fun, but if you break something, don't be upset.

How are you on maintenance? If you stay on top of things, you'll probably be ok. If things have been neglected, expect them to grenade, lol
