Home Brew LED Off Road Lights

Im a complete n00b when it comes to automotive wiring and even more so when it comes to LEDs lol. Been doing a lil research on how to wire up LEDs with resistors and why they are needed. This got me to thinking if I can get a better understanding on how to wire LEDs why cant I take an old set of 6in round off road lights and wire up a bunch of 5m LEDs and use them off road. Wanted to see what every ones thought are on doing this. I know its a huge project but I think if I jump into it with a bit more knowledge on the subject I could come up with something cool and unique. I realize that there are LED off road lights out there on the market but Id rather do a custom job if possible. Id love to hear every ones thoughts about this as well as any useful info or advice yall have.

high powered LEDs need a bit more than just some diodes. There is a good write up on pirate for DIY LED light bars

Great write up but I wasnt gonna use such a high powered bulb. I was thinking of using regular 5m LEDs and cant seem to find a driver for them. Im not looking for the most expensive or the most blinding thing out there just a lil extra light for the rear when backing up when off roading and some extra light up front as well
