No, not yet. I've picked up the phone to call him a few times and hesitated. I still have it in the back of my head that a pickup would be better for hunting. I know I can get a hitch/hauler mounted on the back but I've seen those things scrape the ground so many times. Seems like it would get dirt and mud and exhaust fumes all over the deer.... I'm this close but just can't pull the trigger. I love what I've seen people do with the Cherokees on this and other sites, just getting hung up on the hauling the nasty stuff that I wouldn't want in the cab with me.

Probably a smart decision to not pick it up then. I agree about the cool factor of XJs but, in the end, it sounds like it won't meet the requirements of what you need.

Have you considered then an MJ? Best of both worlds

It's been almost a month since the ad was posted. Bet it's gone.

Well I can make hunting work with the xj. Just been really busy. If its still there on Friday (half day for me) there's a very good chance I'm gonna pick it up. I mean... honestly, how many times a year will I carry a deer anyway.... maybe once or twice?

Great. New dilemma. After getting off work I drove by the motorcycle shop and saw another white XJ that someones selling through the shop. This ones a 98 with 180k on it (10k less than the other one). They also just put a brand new tranny in this one that they said should have a transferrable warranty with receipts. Only thing is it has a vibration when sitting still in drive, which may be the tranny and could be fixed under warranty and it seemed to have some wet oil on the bottom of the pan....if I wasn't confused before I am now. 98 with a new tranny but some possible quirks or 2001 that SHOWED no quirks but seems to have original tranny?

If a pickup fits your needs better then a suv get a pickup. If you can afford it i would get a small 4x4 pickup ranger/s10 and have a xj as a weekend toy off roader.
