The chassis on the XJ's aren't made to hold up to "Crazy HP" but do a search here and you will find what you seek.

If you want more power from an XJ, stroke the motor or swap in a different motor. Yeah you can turbo and SC, but it is difficult, and expensive. There's no replacement for displacement...

It is a 97 4.0 inline 6.... Stroked to 4.6. Current project. Will be done VERY soon. Right in time for King of the Hammers...not entering, LOL, just gonna go watch...

Crazy power will be a v8 swapped xj.The stock 4.0 has its limits like the head flow and the factory ecu.But just remember horsepower=money.

Diesel swap is my dream. I couldn't justify paying that much money for a stroker 4.6 just to gain not even 100hp

It has a unibody so no frame,But they do make kits to bolt in a 350 or ls motor.As far as the jeep holding the power depends the engine.A 300hp v8 should be ok something 600 or more you want a lot of stiffen aka frame stiffeners/chassis channel reinforcement and roll cage.If you want a fast 4x4 you should look in a full size pickup,Or like a bronco or k5 blazer.
