So the other day i was scoping out tires and i found a place that sells hankook tires and will install them, balance em, and get rid of my old tires all fer $700 CDN. the tires are 31X10.5R15's and the price per tire is $160. the model is Dynapro ATM. they are a new tire model that just came out this spring so i dont know if anyone will have had experience with em but i'm wonderin what people's opinion's are on hankook in general and also whether or not thats a reasonable price.

I have Hankook dynapro MT's I like them I am not sure about the AT's though

i was lookin at the M/T's which was why i origionally went to check em out. a buddy of mine has the M/T's on his ford ranger (:ban:) lol but they looked pretty good so i wanted to check em out. But when i was down there they sales rep told me that they were a good mud/summer tire but for winter they werent great kuz there isnt any of those little lines in the treads that get the water out (dont know what their called). But ya seein as i'm up here in Canada, our winters get nasty and i need something that'll help keep me on the road (yes, i know thats kinda contradictory to the whole "jeep thing" :thumbsup:) but i saw their regular A/T's which were 165$/tire and then these new ones that were 160$/tire. So i just wanted some opinions. thanks for the quick response!

I doubt they will be all that good in mud with that tread pattern.

I would recommend the Dynapro MTs.

I also have the MT's, and on my wifes car i have Hankook's they were realy good in the snow compared to the continental's that were on there FWIW

i would spent the couple extra bucks on the MT's, the AT's dont look like they will clear the snow good

i think the "lines" are called sipes

I live in Ky not nearly the snow and ice you get there but when it did snow I never had problems and they drove on the ice easy too. I don't like them on water though.

But that is with and MT.

so general consensus is that MT's are good in snow? kuz i'm only 17 but i run a small property maintenance business in my spare time and on the two plow trucks i have now i run A/T's (one's got good years, the other has Hercules Terra Trac's) and they work pretty well in the snow. I've never used a mud terrain tho so i dont know the difference. so now that i've established that ppl like hankook, i'm gunna change my question to M/T's or A/T's. my XJ sees about 90% on road, 10% off and when it does make it off the road its usually mud/trails. so if the M/T will work for snow then i'll go for it kuz at $170/tire its not a bad deal.

So M/T or A/T for snow? opinions please.

Mud tires arent meant for the road if you do that much road driving get an agressive AT or a mild MT just remember that the MTs will not handle the wet roads that well i had the Hankook mts on another truck i had and i have no complaints decent tire on and off raod except in the rain they suck IMHO

how bout deep snow? i've heard that MT's are good but i've also heard their bad. Rain i understand as being bad with MT's but that would just mean i adjust my driving habits a tad. how bout in the snow?

Bighorns FTW! :thumbsup: Relatively inexpensive, siped for better traction in inclement weather, and simply good road manners all together. Not to mention they kick major *** offroad!

those sound really good but i cant seem to find pricing on em.. any general idea what i should be expectin?

The 32s I once had cost me $750.18 mounted/balanced/taxes/and all fees for a set of four.

ebay has some of the best prices out there on the Bighorns and free shipping, but you will be paying for mount and balancing. that is about $60-$80 around here.

i ran hankook A/T before i went to my 32"M/T and the hankooks were amazing in snow and on ice and even handled very well off road for an A/T

if you go mud terrains do your resaerch cause some will last forever and some will last a year and from the amount of road driving you do id be cautious about the M/T you pick also keep in mind proper tire pressure is key to tire life 32PSI is gunna wear out a 32x11.5 sooner then it will the stock tire

im runnin 32x11.5R15 WildCountry RVT M/T and im goin on 3yrs and i run bout 75% on road and the rest on logging roads but having the aggresive M/T is more than appreciated when its needed these tires will probly get replaced next seaon so i figure 4yrs out of a M/T is great

from the sounds of your use id say go with an aggresive A/T

ya thats what my buddy has on his ranger and thats what i origionally went down to the shop to look at. Salesman says that there are 2 of those in the size i want but he can order more in. but then i got sidetracked by the new A/T's just kuz of the snow factor. But if M/T's are better in the snow then i'll go with them
