Default Goodyear Duratrac lose 2-3 MPG

I have been doing some research on new tires for my XJ a number of review are stating that they are losing 2-3 MPG with these tires. I am not sure what they are comparing this number too. Were they running a highway tire before? is this number compared to other AT tires?

Anyone have any experience with this tire?

Thank you!

Every car is different

I went from the cheapest 225 there was, to 31" BFG ATs and didn't lose any gas mileage.

also if you're going up in size, you have to remember that your odometer is gonna be a little off. you're actually traveling further than the odometer says, so maybe that's why people are saying they're losing mpg

My Thought exactly! It works out to about 4 gallons of gas more a week. 4gl X $3 = $12

$12 X 52 weeks = $624 a year.

I went from 235 wranglers to 33" dura tracs and my mpg hasn't changed. Still a gallon to work, and a gallon home... About 14.5 miles.

OP, there's really nothing to worry about. I went from 235s to 31s and was worried that I would lose about 1mpg just because of what I had read.

on 235s, my gas light came on right around 220 miles
on 31s, my gas light comes on at about the same.

It's literally no difference. You will only lose a little power going up hills.

I drive an auto btw and average probably 15-16mpg
