Is this a good deal on a 98 cherokee sport?
My dad is getting rid of his cherokee sport. I know he has taken good care of it and always properly maintained it. He babied it. Never took it off road.
1998 cherokee sport. V-6. 4.0 4x4. 110,000 miles. completely stock. A/c ice cold. Heat is great. Forest green. Immaculate interior. Only problem is a little bit of rust here and there. Namely rotors, exhaust, bottom part of passenger side door, a few other places here and there. I live in Illinois and it's kept outside. He said he'd give it to me for $2,500.
here are pics.

I think that it is a awful deal. I think you should pm me your number and the location and anymore info of the Cherokee so I can talk to your dad.
But seriously, I'd get it! I wouldn't worry about that rust. I would however take care of it before it gets worse. That should be a great vehicle if taken as good a care of like you said.

right now we're sanded down the rust and painting over it. I suggested my dad use a wire brush then put some rust converter on the bad areas and then paint over. Which spots should I be most concerned about? I checked out the engine today and the part of the frame that holds the engine is solid with zero rust. It's really just on a few parts here and there...and those places I mentioned on the body. Wish I could buy it today! Unfortunately he's not going to sell it until he finds something else. If it's just surface rust there is no need to be really concerned, just keep it from rusting any more. That is a very fair price.

I think that's a pretty good deal. As far as the rust, like everyone else said it appears to be just surface rust. As long as you stop it from rusting anymore, i wouldn't worry about it.
How should I attack the rust? I don't really have access to a place where I can individually take parts off and completely refinish them. Is it possible to get at most of it while leaving it completely assembled?

Surface rust on the rotors is normal if the jeep has been sitting, as for the doors i personally would sand them down and throw a coat of bedliner on there . . it adds a nice touch and its durable
