Default Giving my new baby a little TLC...

Hey all,
This Saturday (if weather is as good as they are calling for) I'll be cleaning my baby up a little (01 XJ)

1. Oil and Filter change (jsut got the Jeep so not sure when the last one was)
2. Radiator flush and refill (that junk is NASTY!)
3. Engine clean (I'm **** about a clean engine)

Any tips or things I should look out for while doing this?

Look for liquids leaking from valve cover, Rear/Front main seals, oil filter and housing. Good luck with the new toy...Tj

don't get the engine bay too wet without running the motor. when you flush the radiator, flush the heater core separately, the pressure relief radiator cap works pretty good for me, make sure that the old rubber o-ring comes off with the old oil filter (mine used to stick quite often), check the tie rod ends for torn boots, grease the drive shaft u-joints, ball joints, pop the diff. fill plugs and check the fluid color, do the same for transfer case and transmission... make sure the front and rear windshield washer is working, check the wipers,.... ummm, that's basically all i can think of.

I'd say get an over-sized oil filter while your changing it-
Stock takes a (if your using Mobil1) M1-204 size, but you can put a M1-301 on there, least that's what I got. And I'd say Seafoam the engine before you change the oil, you suck a little through the vacuum tube (from the brake booster) and pour a little into the oil, then whatever's left in the gas tank, cleans the engine real good. Also- it's a good idea to get a quick-drain plug, if you get an engine skid plate, you'll have to remove it every time without one.
