gears!
hey I am ordering my gears and lockers on the 15th of this month and wanted to know how bad it would be do drive my jeep on the highway 70mph with 33 and 4.88s! I might want to step up to 35s one day not for awhile but I would rather be over geared than under geared! I don't want to mess up and get the wrong gears! So help me decide 4.56 or 4.88!

I'd go with 4.56s if it's your dd and you drive on the highway. If it's a trail rig only I'd go with 4.88s. I dd mine so I went with 4.56s.

I'd go with the 4.88's like you said " rather be over geared than under geared"
I'll be running 35's with 5.13's when mine is done

With 4.56's and 35 in. tires at 70 mph, your rpm's would be - 2,298
With 4.88's and 33 in. tires at 70 mph, your rpm's would be - 2,609
With 4.88's and 35 in. tires at 70 mph, your rpm's would be - 2,460
That should be right.

Swapping gears is by no means a beginner job. Requires a few special tools and know how. Rusty's has great deals on gear packages!

If you want to play around and see what your options are, head to this site: http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html. Select your transmission and transfer case, put in numbers for tires and you should be good to go once you hit calculate. Hope this helps.
