Jeep vs. Ford...

Me and my buddy were supposed to have a face-off: my Jeep vs. his Hummer. Unfortunately, his Hummer was in the shop getting some work on the brakes. He settled for his dad's Ford F-250 4x4 with a V10. After running up and down the creek at Muddy Ford a few times, I feel very good and am very confident in my Jeep. I honestly don't think I was in tro[IMG][/IMG]uble of getting stuck a single time. (I bottomed out on a log for a little bit, but I didn't worry and I got out of there quickly.) Even with street tires, I crawled over every log and rock I saw, pretty much without slippage. My buddy's Ford, on the other hand... didn't perform as well:icon_lol: He had to back up and gun it to make it over the log i bottomed out on, as opposed to me crawling over, feeling my undercarriage grind, and reversing back over. He took some damage to his passenger door; he slid down and hit a rock jutting out (i told him to turn his wheels the opposite way but he didn't listen) :hammer: my undercarriage hit some rocks here and there, so i definitely think some skid plates are in order. (build thread start?) Sorry for the novel, I just had an amazing time on my first REAL trail riding experience... It was so much fun, I'm ready to go out and do it again! Jeep vs Hummer next time!!!

Nice looking WJ! Also glad to hear it sounded like you guys had a good time! Maybe next time the Hummer can come out to play!

disconnecting the sway bars is a slight advantage, agreed. but it is still stock. so use it to your advantage. he's ifs anyways. plus he has mud tires and you have street tires. that's a huge advantage over you.
does the h3 have locking diffs? if so, that's an advantage over your xj...

don't tell him to air down if he doesn't know about that trick, too bad for him. but i'd do it in the wj.

i don't think that he has locking diffs... but i may be wrong. but his guy didn't even know about the locking hubs on his dad's ford haha. and my tires performed so much better than i thought they would yesterday. my buddy had to rock back and forth and gun it to get over a log in 4lo and i easily crawled over it. i never felt like my tires were slipping on the rocks or anything, and thick mud and old dead leaves weren't a problem at all in a slow crawl. my WJ outperformed my expectations

So sorry your friend has been suffering in a Hummer (in the shop eh?). Now shame on you, friends don't let friends drive Fords, as your off road run has demonstrated. I'll bet his dad appreciated the restyling of the door. Be sure to carry an extraction strap in case the Hummer gets stuck on a curb in the mall lot when leaving the wallymart service bay. Your driving your jeep right. Keep your cool, don't get rammy, enjoy the second win.

peep: you just made my day. my friend was being dumb about all of this... like i said with the door lol. and he almost hydrolocked the ford. he was bumping around all over those rocks. he'll need some undercarriage work in the near future i'm sure...

your jeep looks way to clean... lol

OK, so just because nothing has happen to you or thousands of other people make it a good idea. For off road use, sure go ahead. As cheap as dicos are to buy or even make for that matter, why wouldn't you go that route?

The excuse that thousands of other people haven't had a problem YET isn't enough to prove that it is safe enough.

But once again this if a forum right? I am entitled to my opinion as you are and thousands of others right?

Ohh nice one! Yeah, I DON'T wheel a unibody bro.

Safe would be keeping it connected on the road and disconnecting when off. That's safe. And to answer the other part, yes. I would know with my STOCK Cherokee.

Try harder bro.

it is kinda clean... lol. pretty dusty. my dad gets angry whenever i get it super muddy, and this creek was mainly just water and rocks, and a kinda muddy trail we went on. My dad says that "it's too nice of a vehicle to take off-roading".... so why does it have 4x4??? he doesn't know how much fun it is ;)

zackxj 04-27-2011 09:55 PM

lol, david doesn't have a chance. besides, if a miracle happens and he actually does win ill put him back in his place with the xj for ya.
