I sort of agree and disagree.

As Jeep Jamboree trail guide, I have taken first timers thrue trails and obstacles that I know would never have attempted on their own. Sometimes just seeing that it is possible or even easy to go true without damaging your jeep (and a little peer pressure) One become more confident and will try to go a lot more places than when taking their first dirt path alone.

Nice XJ man, and yea I remember that first little victory, it's an awesome feeling. Heck, one of my first times off-road, I was scared of a little 1 foot drop, if even that, it was in that puckered up moment Chery got her name. Honestly, you'll look back at this picture with nostalgia one day, amazed with how excited you were. Anyways, don't let them get under your skin, don't wanna roll it just to try and prove some troll wrong.

Same here. After the install it went up rock slopes like it was nothing compared to before smoking one front wheel.

I'll tell ya, what's fun is dropping off a ledge, both back tires lift, you're facing the ground and the only thing that keeps you from going over is your front bumper and your right foot on the floor. That's the day I decided I needed a cage. lol

JeepingDan 06-04-2013 03:38 PM

That^ has happened to me. Those butterfly's in the stomach start going nuts.

bheath 06-04-2013 03:43 PM

my first true rock climbing experience was riding with lowrange. should not have went that route. lol

jk Andy, it's Ghost that i shouldn't had rode with. lmao bought scared the hell outta me.

really though, i'd rode many trails around my house, mud, small hills, sand and stumps but there are no rocks around here or mountains so riding Uwharrie with an experienced wheeler was sweet.

to the OP, congrats on getting hooked. now hit up some slightly bigger trails with a crew of guys or friends and learn your rig, its limitations, and it's abilities. never be afraid to ask if you don't know. and remember it's about having fun and making friends, not being stupid and trying that 3' ledge on your second outing.:rockon:

1. You stated you went with a group of people. If he had gone with a group of people or even one other experienced wheeler I'm sure he wouldnt be posting about this little hill. He'd be posting about something far my spectacular to him.

2. You also stated you broke things, He said he cant afford to break things right now. And guess what, you gotta pay to play. so being a smart man he doesnt play until he can afford to Pay to fix it.

3. Not everyone has grown up with the harsh internet you clearly have. I'm not calling anyone out or trying to threaten someone. But if someone had said something that rude to me in person, I wouldnt have hesitated to knock their teeth in. Would someone say something that rude to me in person? No. Why do they say it online? Because the latest generation of kids grew up with anonymity. They can say whatever they want without consequences.

When we grew up you were respectful of others both because thats how you wanted to be treated and also because you knew if you started talking **** it wouldnt be long until you were on your back. Thats life. Real life anyway.

On here there are people who do nothing but talk smack at other people for the purpose of getting everyone riled up and I gotta say I'm pretty easily riled up. I've had my fair sure of run ins with trolls and I'm not ashamed to admit they won. Why? Because I'm used to dealing with people in person where people simply aren't dicks like that because like i said, land on your back.

So like I said, hes got thin skin because hes not used to this kind of garbage and I'd say thats a good thing. Should be a damn badge of honor now days.

Awesome thread guys.

Some of you should feel real good about yourselves. Others....not at all.

And you know who you are.

For sake of argument, I'm like this in person and interweb lol so no worries, I too know some people who act like dbags on the web but won't in person.
Edit: Realized how badly this made me sound like a a-hole lol what I mean is, I treat everyone like they are my brother. I'll fling them some crap but I won't go over board on it. But I will stick up for them to a point lol

To be honest, I didn't have the money to fix my jeep either. I had to use my bottle jack to re bend my tie rod as straight as I could and swap my spare in for the wheel that was letting air out(other one basically pinched itself in so it held air) amazingly enough I drove that way for a week till I got my check and fixed it. But like I said before, that pic shows he has a very capable rig that is most definitely better than mine and could hold up Better too probably. I doubt he'd break anything serious unless he got cocky and decided to buggy that thing up a hill lol
Point being, he has a capable rig that he built most likely for off roading, so why baby it? I understand not wanting to thrash it but he could have tried a bit more challenging stuff.

I will agree though that ya the group thing could have help but then again, some people could have done their first off roading doing something pretty challenging and by themselves.

Rich kid gets his license and a brand new Mercedes SLR for his 16th birthday.

He has little experience driving....but he's got a nice Mercedes built for speed.

Should he hop right on the Autobahn and take her up to max speed?

I mean....the car is built for it, right? He should have no issues....

Fixed it. Plus this what I think(definitely me) is what everyone is meaning/saying. As I said early, I understand not wanting to thrash it and buggy it up a hill/cliff but taking it over some SMALL rocks(just to be clear for you) at a quarry would have been better and a better learning/ pushing comfort level for him

bheath 06-04-2013 04:33 PM

not wanting to get in this, but how do you know what is best for him? :confused1:he drove it up a small hill, something he was comfortable with. It might have give him a few butterfly's in the stomach but that might have been all it took. besides, don't know about ya'll but the only rocks bigger than gravel at my quarry are lined down the ledge so go ahead and drive over that one. see ya at the bottom.

Demonoid369 06-04-2013 04:36 PM

I don't know whats best for him but this is a forum and I'm allowed to my opinions aren't I?

ohio95xj 06-04-2013 04:39 PM
