To be frank I did not fully understand the logic behind some of this. Stuff on the internet. Who knows? They did say what you said about running a more high performance ignition system using a bigger gap. If you feel like wasting some time you can read from here for a few pages.
https://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/.../index253.html
Most of the conversation of running the bigger gap is there.
Since I do this yearly figured I would try the .040. But of course you have me rethinking it. LOL.
While I did find the thread somewhat informative. The only thing I did was swap over my diffs to a synthetic. I was going to drain and replace anyway when I first bought the Jeep just to know that it has been done. Figured why not on the synthetic.

I've got better things to do. Thanks Ralph.
Synthetic is good. All this spark plug Hocus Pocus is a waste of time.

But I may be 60 and have been putzing around with cars and 4X4's since I was about 14 but I can tell you with a definite certainty.
I posses no where near the knowledge you do.
What I don't know can fill a country the size of Guam.
Would like my Jeep to run efficiently and properly.
Which is why when I read stuff like that it makes me wonder.
Do they know what they are talking about.
I am not going to lie. Was going to give it shot.
Not so much now.
Plus this year I might just throw in new Champions.
Whether I need to or not. Figure about 20K on the ones in there.
Plus they cost me about $1. At home I have 12 in "stock". LOL.
I am always open to learning stuff I don't know about.

I agree with you on just because it is on the internet it has to be true. NOT.

No but I think I can see why you would think that. LOL.
From time to time I consider those plugs. But here is my logic.
The '00 bought 6 years ago was kinda running and not driveable.
When I got it up and running and punched through emissions decided maintenance was next.
Googling around I am reading about things like heat soak and misfire issues.
While all Jeeps seem to be susceptible to this was kind of noticing more a '00 and '01 thing at the time.
I was not having any of those problems. No idea why. Maybe it is just very overplayed on the internet.
So when I decided to do the plugs I told myself what ever was in there she was getting new of.
Turned out to be cheapo Champions.
So.........

Well when I pulled the plugs they had the number RC12ECC on them.
Crossing them at Napa came up with 438.
Which at first I did not want. I wanted plugs that said RC12ECC on them. I wanted what was in there.
She ran fine. And the plugs were so shot. I mean like I could not believe that the Jeep ran as well as it did.
But when looking at the plugs marked 438 on the box the number RC12ECC was on the plug itself with the 438 part number.
Might have been on the box too.
So maybe NGK's are the OEM plug. You would know better then most.
Can't remember what it says in the computer at work. When looking up parts it does specify whether it is an OEM,
OEM Equivalent, or it will not say anything but will still fit/work.
Here is what I do know. The Jeep seems to be OK with them.
Besides I hate change. LOL.

is a lifetime supply. LOL. Thinking another 10 years of driving before I become a cliche. Maybe sooner.
And I am thinking I don't even need to swap now. Just thinking about it cause I do have 12 in stock. What do you think? Here is a shot from last April.
