the post right above mine agreed with me?lol i dont have a lift that big, but if you arent doing anything wrong, you wont be bothered. Just a common misconception that every car group says about themselves...i think a majority here would agree with me.

Down south where I’m from they would pull you over and literally measure your ground clearance and check tire sizes to make sure they were in regulation. But they would use that as probable cause just to pull you over. They also loved giving tickets for leaving dirt/mud on roadways or kick you out of car wash bays if your truck was “too dirty”

Down south where I’m from they would pull you over and literally measure your ground clearance and check tire sizes to make sure they were in regulation. But they would use that as probable cause just to pull you over. They also loved giving tickets for leaving dirt/mud on roadways or kick you out of car wash bays if your truck was “too dirty”

Here ground clearance is part of your MVI . More specifically the distance from the ground to the bottom of the bumper . There are a lot of ways to temporarily be legal to pass inspection . Never seen anyone get bugged around here though, guys with lifted trucks are the least of the cops worries .

Yes and maximum bumper heights are based on vehicle weight . The easy trick is to get your bumper low enough to meet the cut off . I’ve seen old mud toys pass by hanging a piece of metal by log chain under the front bumper and it was considered part of the bumper ...

I live near Ashland Ky. Where Oh/WV/Ky all meet on the Ohio river. Out in the counties, it's not a problem. But if you go into town, it can be. Wasn't like that 10 years ago. Our tri-state area, is one of the worst in the country for drug activities. The opioid abuse is just about, unparalleled, touching nearly every family ! Heroin use is also on the rise here lately. Wouldn't even think of trying it with Michigan plates ! They're bringing a lot of it down from Detroit. If it sticks out, you're a target ! Our authorities are on high alert here! Martlor, where do you live ?

i'm generally curious. Is there really regulations about ground clearance? Never heard of such a thing. Also, lifted vehicles are extremely common place in my state and the surrounding states that it really isnt a big deal to the police....the mud at carwash is true and i understand because it does clog the drains

I live right across the river in Lawrence county OH, I was born in Ashland. They never give me any issues with my lifted truck or Jeep, although my Jeep isn't lifted that high yet. I also know several people with lifted trucks that don't have any problems with law enforcement. Maybe some people are just unlucky.
