Dana 35 bolt in axles, ever broke one?
My 87 XJ, has the same old D35 as most except it has bolt in axles.
No C clips.
So curious how many have actually broke on of the bolt in axles?
I haven't yet, but I don't hardcore wheel it either.
I drive it like I have to drive it home, because I DO and to work the next day.
Just curious if anyone actually broke these axles, and if so how did you do it?
No C clips.

D35 Trac-lok?
So i have a spare carrier that happens to be a Trac-lok,
it needs a rebuild $170 on ebay, is it worth it?
Its a daily driver so really don't want to go with a LBL.
But am thinking of saving up for a Detroit True-trac instead too.
I have a D30 true-trac laying on the shelf and might very well put it in at the same time I do/get rear....

The track lok isn't a very good limited slip. I got rid of mine and put a Spartan locker in. You can get one for your Dana 35 for less than $250.

Ever seen a off road video of a wrangler with a axle walking out of the housing ?Most of those videos are dana 35s.Whats the problem is the axle housing is kinda weak and flexs and it either breaks the housing or snaps a axle.

Plus I'm not a crawler, just runs national forest trails.
So the D35 has served me well. With bolt in axles if you break one you can still get out with a little help.
Really like to have a Detroit Tru-trak in the front and rear.

I have a locked D35 and wheel it, see avatar. From my understanding it is the C clips that fail. I am not sure why Chrysler did that on the D35C (corporate assembled). It makes it a weaker axle assembly

Not much just 3" but without knowing the difference in lengths of shafts vs axle, vs ax15/auto/np231/242

And keep in mind when it comes to diffs and many other things, there's always someone who can bend a digging bar in a sand pile or screw up an anvil with a rubber mallet.
