Cross country question
So I have a 95 grand Cherokee limited with 198,000 miles and a few minor problems mostly cosmetic. I am planning on driving from ohio to california. Do you think this is not smart or do you think this jeep will make it? This jeep has been in my family for 10+ years and just recently passed down to me and it has never had any major problems.

x2 just do a tune up and change all your fluids make sure all your lights works etc... hope you hit 200k.... and put in new head light bulbs if they are very old... some roads out west have no street lights on the highway.. and also make sure you have good tires that are not dry rotted...

always a good idea to keep a set of used tires or locate some that are on your way on craigslist...
i drove my pontiac van to florida from virginia about 8 years ago, and on the way back, i already needed one tire. and they probably had 10k miles on them when i drove down... sometimes tires wear down faster than they are rated for.
on a 1000+ miles trip, it's a good idea to keep a few quarts of oil, antifreeze, tranny and tc fluids, drive belt, fuses, and most importantly, wrenches and sockets.
definitely keep a gps handy...

Have you did any work to it lately?
I might cover my bases with some simple replacement parts.
Water Pump,
Alternator (at least carry a spare),
Thermostat,
Change the oil, tranny fluid, make sure the oil is good in the diffs and grease everything, and go for it.

if Sam could do it in a 1 ton long armed XJ think you'll be good if you do some tune up work and fluid changes

If you don't change anything, make sure you carry the toolbox and know how to do the simple things I mentioned above.
Problems on the road means you get raped by local shops.

I took a 700 dollar Camaro on a 3400 mile road trip a few years back, thing didn't even run when I got it. Me and my buddy got it running, painted it, threw some good tires on it, and took off.
New fluids all around, grease everything that can get greased, check wheel bearings, good tune-up. And enjoy the road-trip man.
