s'ok np. i've been told that the laredo was under powered by the six, but the 8's were not nearly as robust. i am looking into the possiblity of towing a light trailer, and was wondering if i could get some feedback.

Yeah, seems like that is what most of Google says. Though it seems like the 231 would best be desired for those who wanna go wheeling a lot, and not just trails, but where locked front and rear are needed.
Though a 242 should be able to handle wheeling from time to time.

All the pictures on top of the forums, that is where if you do that all the time you'd want 231, but if you do that say a couple times a year, a 242 should do just fine right?

look for a XJ with a rear d44 or a 97+ Chrysler 8.25 axle. wish i had known wha to look for when I bought mine. 242 will be better if a dd. especially if you do alot of high way winter snow driving.
