Cooper Discoverer ATR or Firestone Destination A/T
 

Anyone have any opinions (good or bad) about either of these tires?
Cooper Discoverer ATR and Firestone Destination A/T's.

I'm looking to put 31-10.50X15's on my 91 XJ with a 3" lift. This is a daily driver, some dirt roads, and snow from time to time.

Looking for opinions on road handling, off road grip, wear, noise, Etc.

I have the discoverer atrs i like them but havent used any other brands to be able to compare. The road noise is very minimal and they arent too bad in snow ive yet to get stuck offroad but i dont wheel very often. 2 wheel drive they arent great but in 4 they hook up fairly well in the snow. My next set is going to be the general grabber at2's because ive only heard good things and they are fairly cheap

I have heard that the Firestones wear very well, are quiet and last a long time even on road use. I have the street version of them (same rubber compound, different tread) and they haven't worn at all in almost a year I've had the jeep (including going off road in places street tires should never belong, and drifting on dirt roads way too often)

Either way you go you have some good tires!

I have Cooper Discoverer S/T myself, Love them and would buy them again.

I put the Destination AT's on my rig the day I bought it. They are great tires. I put almost 40k miles on my XJ in less than a year (I do a lot of driving lol) and they still easily had 1/3 tread left. I never got stuck offroad, and they did fantastic in the foot of snow we got here in Texas last winter, in addition to the ice we typically get. I would buy them again right away for any DD

neither they both garbage n overpriced hanook mts excellent in rain and snow amazing in mudd n clay
i have a set of 4 on rims 31x10.50 i dont need them ne more 80 percent tread will sell 375

The Firestones are $120-ish a tire for 30 or 31 (cant remember which), and the Hankooks are nearly twice that. Overpriced? I don't think so.

If you want to go cheaper, same quality just so you know, mastercrafts are made by cooper. I run the mt's. Great tires!

I've had these cooper ATR's for four years. They were on my grand cherokee when I traded it, swapped them to the sport. They have every bit of 30k miles, and still have 40% tread left on them. They ride and handle good. Not the best trail grip now(probably ALOT better when newer), but they like the woods and hav'nt let me down yet. In the snow I swap wheel's with the Goodyear wrangler rt/s's, That's the best snow tire I have found.

Yes, I would buy another set of Cooper ATR's. but I would'nt hesitate to try other's also.

It will be about another week before I will be able to get the tires.

On raod handling is one of my main concerns.

the firestone tires are terrible in the snow

X2 on the mastercrafts they are the best tire I have owned and they are made by Cooper but cheaper.

A lot of All terain tires do mediocre in snow.. go for ones with a snowflake logo.
I think BFG AT's and Wrangler Duratracs for sure (Im not sure if they are considered all terrains, and they make some noise ((or so I have read)))
BFG A/T KO get good reviews, a little more cost

My dream rig I run BFG AT KO for summer/fall, and Duratracs studded from December to April.... but thats a pipe dream
